In 2020, an estimated 6.7 million people were caregivers. According to the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, these caregivers who provided help to a friend or family member with serious illness and disability were predominantly women (57.7%). Caregivers of varying age groups face challenges in their duty of providing care on top of work, family, and other obligations. Training addresses the challenges that caregivers face in providing elderly care.

Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS) are essential for caregivers and care providers to learn because they enable the delivery of personalized, efficient, and empathetic care directly in the homes of those who need it.

Heart attacks and strokes are significant health challenges faced by a considerable number of elderly individuals in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 805,000 people in the United States have a heart attack every year, and 795 000 people have a stroke. These medical emergencies can have severe consequences for the individuals.

Effective communication and advocacy play a vital role in ensuring residents' well-being and quality of life, as well as creating meaningful relationships between caregivers and those under their care.. Caregivers may miss crucial information about residents' medical conditions, medications, or treatment plans, leading to potential errors.

On September 27-28, Ca Care Association was in the Anaheim Convention Center. It was filled with people during the Disaster Expo USA event. The expo was a 2-day event and had a variety of activities and guest speakers presenting the newest strategies in disaster prevention and others that provided attendees with hands-on experience and expanded their connections.

This month our trainings are centered around teaching caregivers how to become an effective communicator and be ready in case of heart attacks and stroke. Effective communication is a vital skill that every caregiver must have in patient care. It allows caregivers to understand their patient’s needs, communicate with family members and express concerns in an efficient manner for everyone's benefit. With this training, the participants are also expected to learn effective communication strategies when handling critical or sensitive situations.

Patients in long-term care facilities may enjoy and benefit from more stimulating activities, while others may do better with more calming and relaxing ones. This is why Activity Planning and individualized care take note of each patient's preferences and needs – to ensure that each patient receives the care and attention they need.
