Disasters Expo USA Conducted a Disaster Preparedness Event in Anaheim
On September 27-28, Ca Care Association was in the Anaheim Convention Center. It was filled with people during the Disaster Expo USA event. The expo was a 2-day event and had a variety of activities and guest speakers presenting the newest strategies in disaster prevention, a resilience hub, live demonstrations, a flood map open house, round tables, and others that provided attendees with hands-on experience and expand their connections.

There were a lot of attendees from different companies who showed off their amazing products and how they can help with disaster and emergency preparedness. There were also awards for companies who were outstanding this year.

Some companies also help live demonstrations of their high-end technology. SHERP, a world-renowned manufacturer of all-terrain vehicles talked about the benefits of using all-terrain vehicles in natural disasters and emergencies for search and rescue operations, food and fuel delivery, and evacuations in extreme conditions. Another company Omnis and Zenova presented their latest fire extinguisher technology. Lastly, there’s also the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) who demonstrated hands-on emergency response skills.
The speakers talked about a variety of subjects that range from earthquakes, to disaster risk management, resiliency, fires, climate change, and many more. For day 1, there were 14 speakers in the keynote theater, and 14 in the seminar theater, with each speaker having 30 minutes to discuss. On day 2, there were 13 speakers from the keynote theater and 13 from the seminary theater. Some of the speakers from day 1 include Forrest Lanning from FEMA who discussed “An Earthquake Resilient Building Stock”, and Steve Newton from Inomergence Solutions who talked about “Exploring Converging Technologies in Emergency Management Training”
In celebration of Disaster Preparedness Month, these events are important for the community to work together and be more prepared during disasters. That is why Ca Care Association is in collaboration with Listos California to conduct a year-long webinar that would be divided per season.
