Caregiver Basics Training: Managing Individuals in Crisis

Managing Individuals in Crisis training

This is a FREE monthly training that Ca Care provides to caregivers and individuals looking to build their caregiving skills for compliance and improved care delivery—a topic to follow.

Crisis can happen on any day and time, so it is important for Caregivers to be prepared. They should know the signs of a potential emotional, physical or external crisis, how to de-escalate a situation, and what resources are available to help an individual in crisis.

Being familiar with your state's laws and regulations, knowing how to access available resources (such as mental health professionals), and also having a good understanding of the policies and procedures of your organization can make the difference between reacting or staying frozen.

This event is open to anyone interested in caregiver training, including Recruiting Caregivers, Direct Support Professionals, private duty caregivers, and the workforce.

If you want to find out more about our available training and information, along with access to previous training materials from past events, sign up for FREE to become a member of Ca Care Association. Caregiver Training: Caregiving Basics and Direct Support Professional Training

Approximately 10,000 Baby Boomers reach retirement age every day. Lifespans are increasing, and populations are trending older. More older adults need care than ever before, a complex challenge many families already face and that many more will face in the decades to come.

Caregiving can place a strain on families and relationships, impact careers, drain finances, and even affect the health of caregivers. That said, it can also bring families together, strengthen existing relationships, create new friendships, and demonstrate the benefits of good planning.

Through this training, we will:

  • Go over basic expectations of the organization, the individual, the family, and interdisciplinary team.

  • Define and give scenarios of Activities of Daily Living, best practices, and appropriate responses during crisis situations.

  • Find out how to become a Direct Support Professional and how to get training.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) Training is a competency-based training program that is mandatory for all direct support staff (and administrators who provide direct support) working in licensed community care facilities. The training is based upon core competencies or skills necessary for satisfactory job performance.

This is a FREE training organized in cooperation with one of our founding provider members, Elegant Care Villa.
