Caregiver Training: Caregiving Basics and Direct Support Professional Training

Approximately 10,000 Baby Boomers reach retirement age every day. Lifespans are increasing, and populations are trending older. More older adults need care than ever before, a complex challenge many families already face and that many more will face in the decades to come.

Caregiving can place a strain on families and relationships, impact careers, drain finances, and even affect the health of caregivers. That said, it can also bring families together, strengthen existing relationships, create new friendships, and demonstrate the benefits of good planning.

Through this training, we will:

  • Go over basic expectations of the organization, the individual, the family, and interdisciplinary team.

  • Define and give scenarios of Activities of Daily Living, best practices, and appropriate responses during crisis situations.

  • Find out how to become a Direct Support Professional and how to get training.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) Training is a competency-based training program that is mandatory for all direct support staff (and administrators who provide direct support) working in licensed community care facilities. The training is based upon core competencies or skills necessary for satisfactory job performance.

This is a FREE training organized in cooperation with one of our founding provider members, Elegant Care Villa.
