Ca Care Association Explores Innovations and Opportunities at Abilities Expo

The Abilities Expo 2023, an annual event in the Los Angeles Convention Center that brings together the latest advancements in technology, products, and services for individuals with disabilities, has long been a hub of inspiration and information. This year, Ca Care Association, a non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of people with disabilities, attended the expo as an attendee to learn more about the latest innovations and engage with the community.

Several highlights from Ca Care Association's experience as an attendee at the Abilities Expo included:

  • Assistive Technology Exploration

As an attendee, the Ca Care Association had the opportunity to explore various assistive technologies that have been revolutionizing the lives of people with disabilities. Representatives from the organization experienced cutting-edge solutions firsthand, ranging from mobility devices such as power wheelchairs and scooters to communication aids and home automation systems. This exposure allowed the association to identify potential technologies that could be incorporated into their programs and services.

The AT Network at Ability Tools expands the accessibility of tools, resources and technology that will help increase independence, improve personal productivity, and enhance the quality of life for all Californians.

  • Educational Workshops and Seminars

The Ca Care Association representatives also attended a series of workshops and seminars during the expo. These sessions provided valuable insights on topics like navigating the healthcare system, advocating for accessibility, and understanding disability rights. The workshops were led by experts in their respective fields, offering the association's representatives a wealth of information to bring back to their organization.

Presented by: Earthquake, Fire, and Disability Preparedness Experts from Earthquake Country Alliance, Government Agencies, and Non-Profit Organizations

  • Community Engagement

While at the Abilities Expo, the Ca Care Association had the chance to interact with the disability community and learn about their needs and concerns. By engaging with individuals, families, and caregivers at the event, the association was able to gather invaluable feedback and identify areas where their support was most needed.

  • Resource Collection

As attendees, the Ca Care Association representatives collected information and resources from various exhibitors at the expo. From brochures and pamphlets to informative presentations, the association gained a comprehensive understanding of the options available to people with disabilities, which will be instrumental in shaping their programs and services.

Planning for Special Needs Children

Many children with special needs rely on public funding for their support, like Medicaid for health insurance and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for monthly income. Learn how to set up your estate plan correctly to protect your child's eligibility for these programs when he or she needs them the most.  The workshop will discuss Special Needs Trusts, ABLE Accounts, Supportive Decision making, and limited conservatorships and how and when to use each different planning technique. Accommodating your Abilities: California Workplace Protections
