FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ca Care Association Launches Community Health Training Initiatives to Address Chronic Illness and Strengthen Community Skills

[Los Angeles, CA] – Ca Care Association, in partnership with the Asian American Press Club of the United States (AAPCUS) and the International Pre-diabetes Center, Inc., proudly announces the launch of its Community Health Training Initiatives. This transformative program is designed to empower caregivers and community members by addressing chronic health issues and enhancing caregiving skills through education and proactive strategies.

Program Highlight

The cornerstone of this initiative is a specialized training and certification program for Community Health Workers (CHWs). Participants will not only gain vital skills to combat chronic illnesses such as diabetes, but they will also receive financial incentives upon successful completion of the course, ensuring that caregiving education is both accessible and rewarding.

Chronic Illness: A Widespread Challenge

Chronic health conditions, including pre-diabetes, pose a significant risk to the health and well-being of millions across the United States. Pre-diabetes alone affects 86 million people—approximately 37% of the U.S. population—and can lead to Type 2 diabetes in up to 70% of cases without intervention. This initiative also addresses other chronic conditions, equipping caregivers and community members with the skills to provide better support and prevention strategies.

Key Features of the Initiative:

  • Community Partnerships: Collaborating with organizations like the Asian American Press Club of the United States and local stakeholders, the initiative ensures access to evidence-based, affordable, and impactful lifestyle change programs to mitigate chronic illnesses.

  • Early Detection: The program works with local Community Health Centers to conduct screenings that identify at-risk populations for diabetes and other chronic conditions, enabling timely and effective interventions.

  • Quality Training & Sustainability: Training is led by certified Lifestyle Coaches and Master Trainers from the Diabetes Training and Technical Assistance Center (DTTAC) at Emory University. This ensures consistent program quality and scalability to meet the growing needs of our communities.

  • CHW Certification with Incentives: By offering financial incentives for completion, the program aims to motivate and support individuals in becoming certified Community Health Workers, creating a ripple effect of improved health outcomes in the community.

“Our partnership with the International Prediabetes Center and the Asian American Press Club of the United States strengthens our ability to provide comprehensive education and strategies to address chronic illnesses. More importantly, this initiative enhances the caregiving skills of community members, ensuring lasting and meaningful change,” said Mark Alipio, Executive Director of Ca Care Association.
