Caregiving Basics Training III: Interdisciplinary Team
In 2020, an estimated 6.7 million people were caregivers. According to the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, these caregivers who provided help to a friend or family member with serious illness and disability were predominantly women (57.7%). Caregivers of varying age groups face challenges in their duty of providing care on top of work, family, and other obligations. Training addresses the challenges that caregivers face in providing elderly care.
On October 15, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, Ca Care Association will have its Caregiving Basics III: Interdisciplinary Team through Zoom. An Interdisciplinary team in elderly care is a collaborative effort towards curating a health care plan tailored to the needs of a patient. It produces better outcomes by incorporating collaboration, trust, communication, mutual respect, and consensus building. Research has shown that having interdisciplinary cooperation in medical care can lead to reduced rates of medical errors, increased rates of patient safety, and lower hospitalization. Most importantly, it improves the access of the patient to medical services and enhances the coordination of providing care. The efficiency of interdisciplinary teams in health care is further strengthened by the continuous effort to maintain patient-centered and personalized care.
Why should you participate?
The elderly deserve the care that meets their needs and demands. The interdisciplinary approach can make a comprehensive care plan where professionals from different backgrounds can share their expertise in health.
Develop better caregiving skills
Training helps caregivers to harness care that is personalized, sensitive, and centered on the needs of the patient. It also allows the caregivers to provide effective care aligning with the patient’s conditions avoiding common mistakes. Quality health care means recognizing their individuality, dignity, and autonomy to create better results.
Enhances better communication
Communication is essential to foster trust between the patient and caregiver. It allows the caregiver to listen actively, work collaboratively, resolve misunderstandings, provide the support needed, and create a healthy environment. Through open communication, caregivers are able to create a supportive setting where patients feel respected and heard.
Increases patient and family satisfaction
Caregivers who undergo training give a sense of confidence to the patient and their family to choose your services instilling trust in your competence. This allows families to have peace of mind that their loved ones are receiving quality healthcare and are under the care of capable caregivers.
