On Tuesday, Palisades was destroyed by a wildfire covering nearly 20,000 acres. On Tuesday night, the Eaton Fire ignited the northern part of Los Angeles and is the second biggest fire in the area burning 13, 690 acres. Another fire erupted on Tuesday night, the Hurst Fire, which started as a brush fire and expanded, destroying 771 acres. On Wednesday afternoon, the Lidia Fire broke out and grew into 670 acres. On Thursday, a new fire named as the Kenneth Fire started and covered 960 acres.

In a report by NBC News, nearly 180,000 people were under evacuation due to the Palisades, Eaton, Hurst, and Lidia Fires. Another 200,000 residents were under evacuation warnings. Ten people had reportedly died in the fires as of Thursday night. The massive destruction of homes, commercial buildings, and vehicles left people at great loss.

The fires were caused by a powerful offshore gust known as the Santa Ana winds and the dry period in the area. The large scale of destruction was caused by the winds which fan the smoldering embers spreading it further. Parts of Southern California remain under red flag warnings through Friday. In a report by Los Angeles Times, firefighters are facing challenges with low water pressure and hydrants running dry.
