The Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) has issued PIN 26-01-ASC, announcing an essential informational webinar on fall awareness and prevention scheduled on April 9, 2026. It is an important training for all Adult and Senior Care (ASC) licensees to ensure the continued safety of their residents while maintaining strict regulatory compliance.
PIN 26-01-ASC serves as a formal notification regarding an upcoming provider informational call hosted by the CCLD. The session focuses exclusively on fall awareness and prevention within residential facilities. This topic is an operational priority for facility administrators because falls are a leading cause of severe injury, decline in health, and hospitalization among elderly and dependent adult populations. The webinar is designed to guide providers through evidence-based best practices, proper resident risk assessment strategies, and necessary environmental modifications to mitigate fall hazards and elevate the overall standard of care.
This update has a direct and significant impact on all Adult Residential Facilities (ARF) and Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE). Under Title 22 California Code of Regulations, licensees are strictly mandated to provide safe, healthful, and comfortable accommodations for all residents. This inherent regulatory duty requires implementing proactive fall prevention strategies, maintaining hazard-free environments, and continually updating resident-specific care plans and appraisals. Insights gained from this webinar will equip administrators with the knowledge to align their facility's physical environment and staff training protocols with current CCLD expectations. Staying ahead of these standards is vital for preventing severe deficiencies or citations related to resident safety, inadequate supervision, and neglect.

Before attending the webinar, licensees are encouraged to proactively assess their facility's current fall prevention protocols, physical environment (e.g., adequate lighting, secure handrails, clear walking pathways), and staff training records. Any questions that may arise regarding fall risk management can be raised in the webinar.
